a bit of a floury faff, but it was fun! All told it took about 20 mins, from start to eat.
thanks to the millions of crazed supporters who helped me to jump! You know who you are! Throws rose petals, blows trumpet etc etc.

How do you get the pine nuts to crush in the pesto? In blender it all goes, pine nuts come out whole.

Maybe your pine nuts are of the unruly variety. I have never noticed this phenomenum, because I do my chopping in stages. You lightly toast the pine nuts, cos it's poncy innit, then you shove them in an electric chopper/blender and chop em first. When they're chopped you bung in a clove garlic and salt, and I add a squinch of grated italian cheese, then I chop em some moar. Then I chuck in 2 wodges of basil leaves and chop more , (In my blender that's the fun bit cos all the little green leaves go from the top to the bottom and then mix in, quite mesmerising.) finally I add the oil and just whizz it for 15 seconds. da daaaaaaaaaaaah 5 and 8 in one night! 5 and 8 in one night!

Hang on - how do you chop pine nuts not once but twice? Do you also split atoms for pudding?? I need a smaller knife, or bigger nuts.

I'm a bit of a fanatic with electrical appliances. (No sniggering at the back). If I have an electric chopper machine, I'm gonna use it to the max! And also it made a rather naice contrast between the peaceful, tactile floury kneading and the considered rolling paper thinly, the careful usage of the pizza cutting wheel cleverly combined with the straight edge of a small chopping board and then the Mad Electric Chopping. All in all I think I ran the gamut of kitchen experiences earlier this evening. 5 and 8 in one night! 5 and 8 in one night!
