How pants it feels to be back home after a long weekend away, with the prospect of work tomorrow. Grrrr.
We had a lovely weekend with Mum and Step-Dad in Dorset. Drove down on Saturday after Topman's usual prison visit and daughter's stage thingy class, and had a scrummy barbecue in the garden - Step-Dad even managed to avoid his usual black-on-the-outside-raw-in-the-middle offerings.
On Sunday we had lunch at the golf club, then a wander down by the quayside, where I bumped into an old work colleague, who had last seen our daughter about 5 years ago! Then back to the golf club for another few drinks and a golf buggy ride for sproglet!
Yesterday we managed to end up in the middle of an American Civil War re-enactment event and, after marvelling at how people could function in thick woollen uniforms in such weather, and learning about the finer points of cannon-making, we hot-footed it back to the coast for a ferry ride and some deliciously cold beer.
Now being back at home, minus sproglet, who's stayed with grandparents at the seaside for half term, I feel strangely deflated. Having adult time to ourselves is of course lovely, but somehow the prospect of working when it's so beautiful and sunny out just doesn't seem right.

Sweaty men, vintage weapons and equipment, and an informative talk on artillery manufacture?! That is how my Bank Holiday should have been spent instead of being bored rigid at work! I'm jealous now and I intend to sulk for some time. Man will never be free until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest. | |

I used to feel a bit like that when I got home from in-laws after Christmas. Perhaps its 'family/holiday' drop. A kind of very minor form of sub drop? You do paint a lovely family and children picture of the coast and countryside and Dorset. | |

I'm at home with 2/3 of my granchillun. I feel strangely washed out, and it's not yet mid-week.............................. (Today we climbed some mountains, discovered that Primark in Ealing has no boys' shoos, got their jeans greener than I think their mother is going to appreciate, learnt how to put a jigsaw together properly with logic innit, bought strawberry glitter toothpaste that should Definately be labelled 'not for sensitive parents', conversed with a waiter for some while and displayed good listening skills as he described the merits of Leicester football team. Ate a thali and korma and learnt how to eat with your hands and bread without tipping it down your front. Ended up with baths and lush products and King Arthur chapters 6 to 9 on audio.)
