...explain them if you can.
5 years for the mother...5 YEARS!
Consider what that kid went through..........busted ribs; broken back; tip of one finger missing; missing finger-nails........no sentence can bring him back, but FUCKIN' HELL! Is this the price the judiciary puts on a human life? Makes me sick.......

To be fair, she was given an indefinite sentence with a minimum of five years in jail, but yes. Britain's sentencing for violent crime is a joke. What's even more is the boyfriend who got 12 for killing the baby and life for raping a 2 year old girl, and must serve a minimum of just 10 years. That's a joke even by British standards - murderers usually get a minimum 15 year tariff if I'm not mistaken. Seems to me that if you commit cold blooded, pre-meditated murder, with no mitigating circumstances, you should never be released from jail. If you also abused your victim over a long period of time AND raped a 2 year old girl... It's only hubris if I fail.

I share your anger. But... They could still be kept inside for the rest of their lives (as they should be, of course)if their mental health worsens - as it's likely to, being under constant threat from the other inmates and the staff, their food interfered with etc.. It was a black comedy masterpiece when her defence counsel said she had been threatened by the other inmates who 'thought they were superior to her'. Well, yes. I dare say they did think that. And were in fact totally justified in that assumption. Eventually they might be transferred to Broadmoor or some other mental health facility and there would be many ways of keeping them in for their own protection. They still may never come out. There is no God but there is occasionally justice. Even male psychopaths will tremble serving a few decades while cunning and resourceful prisoners are trying to scald them with boiling water, cut them with razors or perhaps administer a forced drug overdose. Grumpy Spring - It was far too cold. Now it's way too hot

With a little luck and natural justice, all of the sods involved in this will become the jail 'bikes'. Hopefully, SSC will not be part of this. Why NOT release their names and pictures? They tortured and killed one toddler and raped another. Oh, and one of them was apparently living with a 15 year old girl. Did I miss something, or is the age of consent still 16? Cover all three of them in chocolate and chuck them into the nastiest prison in England. Video it, and sell the rights to a children's charity.

Revenge isn't justice. Though I agree, sentencing in this country isn't great. "Bottom line: it's couples who are truly right for each other wade through the same crap as everybody else, but the big difference is they don't let it take them down. One of those two people will stand up and fight for that relationship every time." Edited 22 May 09, 10:47 PM by yoda_dog

it is a joke for sure.
part of me says why are we paying to keep them inside they should be made to suffer and end up dead.
however the other part of me says killing as a punishment is not right.
why is it that there is a need for a child protection agency at all, after all it is supposed to be parents that do that. so when a parent can take part and or watch the abuse happen it just sickens me. its at times like this i am actually ashamed to be human.
i know i am not an eloquent person with words but i do hope my meaning is there.
the justice system sticks and some people are worse than animals in which case nature would have killed them. today is history, tomorrow a mystery. life is one long test take it in both hands and embrace.

I'll be honest. There are bad people in the world, we all know this, and they should be punished. However, what really gets to me is apparently normal people wishing or wanting to indulge in horrendous torture and murder in the name of justice. How does that make you any better than them?
It worries me "Bottom line: it's couples who are truly right for each other wade through the same crap as everybody else, but the big difference is they don't let it take them down. One of those two people will stand up and fight for that relationship every time."

Indeed. Everyone and their dog seems to want to take a chainsaw to the entire protective custody wing. It's only hubris if I fail. |
