A thread on the boards gave me a real blast from the past in remembering a friend's mnemonic for the Mohs hardness scale for minerals:
The (Talc)
Girl (Gypsum)
Called (Calcite)
Fiona (Fluorite)
A (Apatite)
Fat (Feldspar)
Queen (Quartz)
Tried (Topaz)
Cooking (Corundum)
Dogshit (Diamond)
So, after twenty-odd years, that is something I can still reel off the top of my head. Another is the physics equation n lambda = 2d sin theta = "non-listeners go to the sign theatre".
Amazing how much useless knowledge knocks around in one's noddle...
