I tuned in specially to see the speaker resign and it was over in seconds. What an anticlimax!

Never has the word 'scapegoat' been so apt, because of course it's all his fault that they all stole and fiddled.

So, hang on, if i go on a shoplifting spree in M&S (which i might actually do) it's Sir Stuart Rose's fault for having poor security systems. And he should resign???

And i see Nick Robinson agrees with me.

If he tried by all means to prevent investigations into the system (and spent public (shareholder's) money in so doing) and then turned round on those who had pointed this out

Then yes

ETA and if you saw the pitiful way he tried to use the House rules to stop a motion of No Confidence being tabled today you would have little sympathy with the Speaker

Let's make no mistake, the Members are in uproar, they'e furious with him.

They're furious that he prevented details leaking out. They'e furious thay he failed to protect their interests.

Only time will tell whether this was his way of forcing through reforms.

That would have been excellent. It should become the official procedure.
