I have several from Coventry Canes, they aren't sub-standard (now that's an oxymoron!) and are adequate for the purpose intended. Like you, I always keep a variety, but I still revert to my favourite cane, which is a senior, that is approx. six years old and impregnated with my scent. That one originally came from Q.C. and is still going strong (it gets a lot of use) after all these years. The ones I have from C.C. are showing wear and tear and they are approx. a year old. Given how cheap canes are, coupled with the amount of use I get out of them, I'm a happy lady either way.
