I walked into the chemists.
I went up to the sunglasses display.
I thought:
'I'll try one on... reckon I look cool in sunglasses!'
I selected a pair of mirrored dark blue shades.
I put it on and looked in the mirror.
I did indeed look cool.
Then I noticed a roughness about my skin.
I hurriedly took off the glasses.
My skin was ageing rapidly in front of me.
The flesh began to melt and bits of my skull started to show through...
I woke.
Just a dream.
For some reason I thought of something I had written about freedom on this site:
'True freedom is the freedom not to choose.'
A further thought about freedom:
True freedom is the freedom not to be.
The dark descent has begun.

Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose... Have you ever looked fear in the face and said i just don't care? It's only half past the point of no return...the Thunder before the lightning, the breath before the phrase (Pink)

True freedom is, for me:
"Truth is stranger than fiction."

Sometimes I think the world (my subjective reality) consists solely of events and feelings - nothing else can be understood - so I can't really define freedom anymore than any other concept. At the end of 'Roads To Freedom' the main character dies, just before he does he utters the one word: freedom. It didn't connect with me at the time but it kind of does now. Thanks to both of you for your comments. There's only one thing worse than not getting what you want... and that's getting it! |
