I've played a bit with TENS units, and even less with E-STIM. First, I tried a Type 2 E-STIM, and found it more like a bee sting than activating the muscles. I get the same feeling from a TENS unit, and don't enjoy it at all. Then I tried a Type 1 E-STIM, and LOVED it! Not stingy at all. Really activates the muscles and feels great, especially with the right probe. I'm getting ready to buy one, but was wondering why there is such a difference between them. I'm guessing (with my basic understanding of electronics) that the Type 2 and TENS is digital, and the Type 1 isn't. But not sure how that translates to how it feels. Thanks, Pen Just a girl who likes birds of prey.

I don't know about the E-Stim units, but as I understand it, TENS is intended to send pulses across the surface of the skin to stimulate nerve endings, wheras EMS units are intended to penetrate deeper and activate the muscles. Prefer EMS personally. edited to add - here we go http://www.phc-online.com/TENS_EMS_Supply_s/115.... All Electronic Muscle Stimulators are technically TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulators), the main difference being which nerves are stimulated by the device. EMS machines stimulate the muscle motor nerves, while TENS devices are designed to stimulate sensory nerve endings. They all work by generating an electrical pulse which stimulates motor nerves through the skin causing the muscles, supplied by those nerves, to contract. Edited 11 May 09, 6:00 PM by Visualize

Which programme(s) did you try? there a several on a series 2, each with a variability. Was the pad or probe placement the same for the various units? I would be surprised if the more sophisticated programmes on the series 2 all felt the same to you and also less pleasant than the series 1. P

I've tested all the various programmes. I tried both the series 1 and series 2 with the same probe. I later tried the same probe with a TENS unit, and it felt the same as a series 2. In fact, the £15 TENS unit at Lloyds Pharmacy is a far site cheaper than a series 2, although doesn't do as much. The sensation, for me, between the series 1 and 2 was VERY different. The series 2 was so uncomfortable I'd liken it to finger nails on a chalk board. However, the series 1 was heaven. In fact, I'm more than willing to shell out the ££ for a series 1, I liked it that much! Pen Just a girl who likes birds of prey.

I have series 1...and it's great for me and Master.
We both like it...but have our own personal preference for settings. Does bring out Master's sadistic side though when he uses it on me.!!..LOL
Never tried series 2 so can't compare, so here's hoping that ensuing posts will enlighten me.

Sorry, but you tried all the programmes on the series 2 and found them all unpleasant compared to the series 1? Even though two of the programmes on the series 2 are the same as on the series 1?
Oh and for clarity, I own both a series 1 and series 2. To say that you found a series 2 programme such as waterfall comparable to the basic sine programme baffles slightly me. If the series 2 did really feel so crap to you on all programmes I'd be fascinated to find out why. This damn electricity is slippery stuff P

YES! Exactly my point too. Why? I think that because the series 2 is digital, it produces a cleaner and SHARPER current. Perhaps the series 1 isn't so sharp, and thus feels different. I'm picturing an analogue signal vs a digital signal, the analogue varies gradually whereas the digital is on or off. It doesn't have anything to do with the available programs on the device, but the sharpness of the current felt on the skin. Does that make more sense? The series 2 also seems to be only felt on the skin, whereas the series 1 hits the muscles and I hardly feel it on the skin at all. Pen Just a girl who likes birds of prey.

The Series 1 and Series 2 are different in the way they generate the outputs, but in far more complex and subtle ways than just one is digital and the other isn't. In fact both use a unique analogue/digital system to generate the outputs, with the Series 2 also offering channel isolation. There is a difference between the output systems, so for some people the Series 2 will offer more pleasurable sensations over the Series 1, for others, its the other way around. It's similar to some people liking a cane over a crop.... they are both long hitty instruments, but give a different sensation when used. Si E-Stim Systems

Save yourself a lot of money... to start with... purchase a Simple dual channel tens unit... (about £40.00) for sexual gratification purposes you will find that the 'resonant' pulse frequency and pulse width are 100 Hz and 240 microsecond respectively - play with the power/amplitude setting to suit.. For men the best set up is: a single pole anal electrode (about £14.00) with the other pole to a coronal/urethral electrode - this is the only item worth spending money on from PES (about £70.00) or failing that an Estim urethral electrode (£30.00) the key is to ensure good connections which will reduce the 'sparking' feeling.. so with the urethral/coronal, a little lube and ensure a tight fit using a cock band or rubber band can help do this to maintain pressure and erection. Women likewise.. anal to clitoral area... which sadly is not so easy to achieve..use pads, or even conductive wire or plastic loop around the clit..
if you want to make it pleasurable in a S/D scenario it is usually better to have the recipient play with the controls themselves.. to hit the "sweet spot" - this is a sensation which can be compared to your genitals being gripped and 'pumped up' (you will know - trust me) Most people who use electronics never seem to get beyond the discomfort sensation and assume it is a painful stimulus... Not so... Edited 19 May 09, 5:14 PM by Archon
