Seem to be a bit soft.
Not over yet of course, but what is it with the latest wave of UK boxers not being able to take a punch?
Edited to add in Hatton's case he just won't avoid a punch, so he's having to take a lot more punches than a good fighter would.
He's so doomed it's not funny. Unless he learns how to shoot fireballs like the dudes in Streetfighter.

Well that's Hatton done. Least it ought to be. It's clearly not healthy for a man who can't avoid getting hit in the face to be a boxer. Edited to add the announcer has called it a TKO, a Technical Knock Out. I know it counts as the same thing on the score card but I dunno, feels like an injustice somehow. Hatton was all but decapitated. Nothing 'Technical' about it, it was a very actual knock out. Poor bastard was snoring on the deck. Totally agree about the TKO. Hatton looked dead after that punch! Not worth staying up until 5am for, and my flatmate and I and our friends who stayed over are fucking zombie like today! | ||

I think it's a sad lesson that proves sadly that Hatton is a long way short of world class. From what I've read his trainer was constantly on his case to get him to dodge, to move his head, to be harder to hit, and in the end he was still walking into punches and leading with his face. He's not one of the best, he can't be trained to be, and if he keeps trying somebody is going to kill him. I hope he quits before that happens.
I like being my own worst enemy, because I know where I live and what I'm going to do next. |
