One could probably replicate the feel of a thick-but-soft (Brother of Tim nice-but-dim?) hide flogger by sewing velvet around a heavy cotton rope. I cant think of any that are commercially available. proccie. Zen S&M: The sound of one hand smacking.

How about a latex or horse-hair flogger? Quite a few places sell them (just type it into google). Not sure how they feel though, whether they are thuddy or stingy.

What about using faux suede or leather?

Although not a flogger, I have found that non-leather belts work well for thuddy implements "Morality, like art, means drawing a line someplace." - Oscar Wilde

Rope. I often use whatever rope comes to hand, looped and knotted with a twist to form the handle. Last time I used alternate 6mm hemp and 4mm cotton and they both got the mmmm factor. http://www.avaaz.org/en/

You can make a completely vegan one out of rubber inner tubes... its a mix between thud and sting. I was lazy and bought mine, from SH! in hoxton square, for about 20 quid, and it has give me really good results. Nyx: the primordial goddess of the night. A shadowy figure, Nyx stood at or near the beginning of creation, and was the mother of sleep and death. Her appearances in mythology are sparse, but reveal her as a figure of exceptional power and beauty.

Hmmm, off topic, but I am a veggie, and somewhere along the way I learned the myth that leather is ok as it is a byproduct of the meat industry.... Having checked my "facts", I need to reconsider my own stance on leather. Here is one example - "The leather we like best, soft leather, doesn't come from old cows at all, it comes from calves and the softest leather of all comes from unborn calves whose mothers have been slaughtered." Yuck. http://www.vegsoc.org/info/clothing.html For those who believe, no proof is necessary.
