I was lost in late teenage nostalgia listening to this this evening whilst washing up. It brought back so many memories of A levels, field trips in Wales, Genesis, Motley Crue and Supper's Nearly Ready.

Sadly, when I saw Marillion at Hammersmith Odeon a coupel of years after this, whenever anyone shouted out a request for Grendel, Fish said "No, we're not playing no fucking Grendel"...

This is a bloody corker, too.

Marillion, the true inheritors of Peter Gabriel's Genesis.

I first saw them as the opening act at an open air festival outside Leeds back in '81. It was before they even had a record deal. The following two acts were quite disappointing in comparison. To fill in the curious, Jethro Tull were the headline.

Heady days, indeed.

Wow. That reminds me of a wild Hawkwind concert I saw in the mid-80s - there was a guy there with a Peter Gabriel Genesis-era haircut. Not a look most people would choose for themselves, really.

Not many people really cared who was on stage by the end. The whole thing was sponsored by Theakston's Brewery !!!

Ah, Theakstons - now that also takes me back - I haven't had a pint of Old Peculiar in goodness knows how long!

I haven't seen Jethro Tull live, and I'd have loved to.

With a pint of Old Peculiar?

(Old Peculiar's nickname is 'Lunatics Broth' - an appropriate name)
