In light of todays climate issues I think all passengers should be charged by weight, you have to pay excess for heavier luggage so why not pay for seats by weight too.

The more fuel expended in getting your ass in the air the more you should pay with a minimum price per seat flat rate

Passengers can only book a single seat if they fit in a single seat space, just like hand luggage must conform to a certain size so should the passengers.

It's quite apropo really I caught Live at the appollo this week with Joan Rivers Hosting.

She was talking about going to overeaters anonymous in her routine and saying that one of the fat women was complaining loudly about having to buy two seats on a flight.

Until that is Joan pointed out that as a result she got two meals:-p

Yes, put you up front with the pilots, why not. Do all the seats in the cockpit get used?

On South West Airlines in the States, passengers who are over a certain weight or do not fit the size criteria where seating is concerned, are prohibited from flying on their aircraft.

Thanks for the link.....im with that air line that the deciding factor should be if the arm rest can go down.

If it doesn't/can't...like in my case a person should be made to upgrade or buy another seat.

I am sorry now tha i didn't ask one of the flight crew..but hey-ho..we live and learn!

I must admit this reminded me of a story I read in the paper of a large guy on a Rugby tour who considerately bought two seats.

Unfortunately the airline gave him two seats in different rows!!
