Just got back from the phoenix munch and had a great time. The Bulls Head is an excellent location ran by a lovely couple and easy to get to.
At hte munch Ex stood up infront of those there and gave his version of events that have lead to the Phoenix no longer being at Retro. He then offered to step down from running the munch.
There was a unanimous reaction against this and all that were there including myself voiced that he should continue to run The Phoenix at the Bulls Head.
I look forward to being at the next Phoenix and enjoying the company of the people there that make this such a good munch to be at.

If I'd been able to make it across to Oldham for the Phoenix munch today, he certainly wouldn't have had my vote of approval, no matter what story he came up with to justify himself. For the very fact that he came here on IC and lied to us all, he was happy to have us believe we had done something wrong and it was OUR fault that we can no longer hold munches at the Retro Bar. When all the time, he was covering for his own dubious actions. And it's not the first time he has been economical with the truth here on IC either. Some of us have known him for years and know full well the depths he will sink to to save his own skin.
Excalibur: Now that you have weaseled your way out of this one with the munchers in Oldham, when you eventually come online and try to justify why you have lied to us all here on IC, you would do well to remember what I told you years ago when you were banned from the Manchester Community Munch for lying. “Honesty is the best policy” And “ Mistakes can be forgiven, but when you lie about them, respect is lost.”

Because, Fridayschild, the shit hole you refer to has been supportive of our lifestyle and Community for the last 9 years or so that I know of. It might not matter to you that we can no longer gather there, but for some of us it does.
Ex could have come on here and said " Look folks I'm sorry but I've fucked up and we have to move to a new venue" He didn't do that though did he? He lied and tried to put the blame on the Community instead. He didn't have to go in to detail about his private matters. He just had to be honest. Still want me to shut up lil' sis?

Bev I agree with you, all Ex had to say was exactly that, but to blame the community, just because it's so easy to at the moment with all the stupid shit about us being criminals, that to me was a low blow.

With respect bev, surely it is the munch and the people who are important and not the venue? It upsets me that somoenes life is being disgussed here. If you put yourself in his shoes one can understand why he has not been up front with his personal information.
And yet again in the usual IC style people are drilling the same point over and over again. All that happened is someone bended the truth to save face - I don't know anyone in my life who has not done that.
It also concerns me that people have been checking up on the guy. Checking up on what he has said, is not nice. There are lots of people who did not attend this venue because it is a fli pit and I think it is good that it has moved.

It might be a low blow. But it has happened and the munch has moved. So its upto people if they go to the new venue or not. We have lost enough munches etc in the past, at least this one is still going.
I for one hate the hassle on running a munch and yes i can quote that as me and my partner have been running the Southport munch since before christmas. Yes we have had hassle with that as well.
You can't please all the people all the time, but if you can please some of the people some of the time your doing well. Happily taken by the wonderfull Daneswood.

You're right, Fridayschild. It's the people who are important. But the Retro Bar AND its management and staff are an important part of our Community's history too. As far as I am aware, it was one of the first venues to accommodate munches and play parties here in Manchester. No matter who has been running what ever munch there, the management has always been supportive. For many years they provided us with a venue, so we could have play parties. They could have made a lot more money hiring out the room to other organizations and clubs on a Saturday night but they didn't. They stood by us, in a time when there wasn't a fetish club going on every weekend in Manchester. So no, with respect, I'm not just going to say it was a smelly flea pit (which in my opinion it isn't) and toss the place to the side, I'm going to mourn its loss the same way a lot of peeps here will.
As far as I am aware, those who have contacted the Retro Bar had only done so to establish what issues they now had with our Community and to see if the situation can be resolved. Nobody was checking up on anyone.

right time to say my piece on this
first i have never attended any munch at the retro but bye the sounds of things i dont think i would want to !what with its sticky floors sticky and dirty glasses and odour i would be worried about my health and those are your its supporters descriptions not mine .
i have how ever for some time attended munches at the bulls head which i find to be roomy and clean have clean glasses and floors the room used is private and has access to a rear enclosed patio area/garden which with the warmer weather coming will be a boon !but if you want to crowd into a dirty smelly sticky cellar area in hot weather thats your choice .
2 ex's actions in not revealing the full reasons for the ban from the retro
now as explained to those at the munch
ex was accused of an act by another member of the munch that was incorect this has been used by the management of the retro to try to sack ex !now if your livelyhood was being put in jeaperdy by someone elses error would you be wanting to broadcast it on a website ? no ? i thought not .
just blaming ex for this is wrong as was it not another member of the munch who made the incorect alegation so there for its the comunity in this action who have crapped on ex and the munch .
as for certian peoples actions in posting on here and demanding a reply when they know full well ex would be involved with organising the munch and would not be able to to do so for some time very brave arent you !
the munch it self was as usaual at this venue a very pleasant experiance with good hosts in a nice atmosphere you dont know what you missed out on what ever your reason for not attending .
dont judge a man untill youve walked a mile in his shoes !
