(A little excerpt/topic for discussion off my blog, thenewadventuresofjuliette.blogspot.com...)
Following my last post, I found myself musing on the subject of looks in BDSM.
Specifically, the difference between male submissives' and women submissives' attitudes on the subject of looks.
From my morbidly fascinated travels through BDSM Library, the generic male-sub fantasy seems to be as follows.
The evil woman in his life taunts him for being ugly, pathetic and disgusting. Cruelly sneers at his physical flaws. And openly prefers someone else more attractive and manly.
Now, if anyone doubts that men and women are fundamentally different critters, here's the proof...
You will NEVER get a female sub dreaming of this set-up with the gender roles reversed.
And I mean NEVER.
Please feel free to stop me if I'm wrong. But I maintain that - in the whole richness and diversity of the female experience - this just Will. Not. Happen.
Take any woman on earth. In history. Margaret Thatcher. Marilyn Monroe. Myra Hindley. Mary Queen of Scots. Melinda Messenger.
Anyone.
Now, I will happily make a bet with you.
I bet you every penny in my bank account that this woman is not going to get turned on by thinking 'God I look ugly and pathetic right now.'
'Oh, and my boyfriend really fancies someone else.'
Even at their most humiliation-happy, all women want to be intensely desired, and look as much like a Playboy centrefold as humanly possible.
Tousled and dishevelled, perhaps. But tousled and dishevelled as you only ever really look when you've spent three hours being painstakingly tousled and dishevelled by a team of expert makeup artists and hairdressers.
We will have true sexual equality when, and only when, male subs agonise over their man-boobs, spend hours on hair removal, and surreptitiously attack their thighs with insanely overpriced cellulite-removing gels for ten minutes every night.
And when female subs flaunt their pale, hairy, untoned flabbiness like a badge of honour - and dream of being called ugly and disgusting by a man who is openly cheating on them with someone more attractive.
Just a thought...
