Mackem is a derogatory term used by geordies to describe those from Sunderland. Seldom taken with offensive these days, although mostly reclaimed in the way queer and nigger have been by the gays and blacks respectively (watch me get sanctioned for that one Smoggies are from Middlesboro for future reference- due to the high levels of smoke from the many chimneys. Sunderland has an excellent munch. Not yet got to 'Boro but I aim to soon. | ||

Thanks you 2! Caught out - I am an immigrant.
Not likely that I will get to Sunderland, certainly not Middlesborough, public transport not good enough. Will put Newcastle Munch in my diary, am happy with my own company anyway.
Unlikely too to get to Tension - transport again (last bus to Morpeth about 11.00) plus fat woman's phobia of clubs. | ||

Possibly because they can't be bothered to advertise it anywhere other than hidden away in a forum, which is itself hidden away in deep within another event's website. By leaving the NewcastleMunch site to die, the last entry was September, people think the munch is also dead, so it's no surprise not many turned up. Science, the only religion that works even if you don't believe in it. | ||

Would strongly advise you check the morpeth site before heading out as far as I know the, munch as shut down however mr SD may know better than me  I think therefore I am! | ||

I did memo the chap who was running the site and on 12 Feb he didn't know if it would be re-starting ... ETA Who is Mr SD? Can't find him on here.
