For sometime I have wanted a paddle, slippers and other things I have, but the paddles I have seen did not really "do it" for me.
So I made my own, one I venture to suggest is more mine than most in the scene.
I grew the tree, a sycamore in my back garden for more than twenty years.
I felled part of it with my own hands, using my old bush saw bought as a venture scout.
I seasoned the logs in the garden, turning them about every three months to ensure even drying.
Then a couple of months ago, I split one of the logs into planks.
Roughly shaped it with an old machete sharpened for the purpose, then finished it with a plane and belt sander.
Sealed the wood with several applications of teak oil.
Result my very own paddle, made by me and the wood grown by me, does anyone have a paddle more theirs than that?
Hugs,
Irene.
