It has that effect on me too. I was totally stressed and uptight before my last session (so uptight I couldn't even bring myself off!)
Afterwards, all the tension has gone, I'm relaxed, calm and walking around with a huge grim on my face It definitely has health benefits for me. Kitty

The endorphin rush is to nature's way of making the necessary battles of life palatable: the boundary wars, the hunt for food in primitive times was accompanied by a feeling of well being despite the pain and the suffering. But of course, this didn't only affect the warriors and the hunters: collectively, the whole of the society involved must have had a feel-good factor when supporting the braves, both pushing them to the fight and nursing them afterwards (unless the buggers lost, of course!). This leads to the conclusion that endorphin rushes can apply throughout a group, even those not directly experiencing pain, and that they are also present in the act of selflessness when facing danger. So there's the endorphin rush of preparing to be caned, of the act of preparatory submission, of being caned and of the top's remote participation leading to their endorphin rush too. I have been endeavouring to explain to my subs for some years now the benefits of a damned good thrashing. It improves the circulation, stimulates the phagocytes, and tones up the digestion. Not only does it improve the sub physically, but she also becomes a better person mentally, emotionally and morally.

We seen the articles about the benefit of a discipline particularly referring to the cane, My wife has always felt calmer and less stressed after a caning not immediately afterwards but a few hours after and for the following few days and shouldn't be forgotten that the deliverer of such beneficial treatment has a feeling of satisfaction and pride of a well delivered caning So we have always been aware of the benefits, but we still continue the research Mr Smacker

Some of these posts are brilliant. I absolutely identify with the notion that getting caned is healthy and good for you. For me, it is more about mental health which, of course, has a direct bearing on physical wellbeing. I have settled into a routine that works for me. From reliable contacts gained over the years of practice, I now have a rostra of Tops who will visit me for the mutual pleasure of beating my bottom with one (or a selection) of my own rattan canes. As I feel the need for it about once every three weeks this requires some judicious rationing of visits, but this keeps everyone satisfied and not over-indulged and over familiar. Within this framework there is room to accommodate new Tops who I meet on here and other sites from time to time if they sound the right notes. It all adds up to an effective and mutually beneficial practice that surely any intelligent doctor would consider a good thing. I provide some films and pics on my blog and a recent article detailing the psychological benefits.
