Visited a friend last night i haven't seen in ages, it was great to catch up. We got onto the subject of motorbikes and he said he has an old 125 Jawa that's only done 750 miles but might need a bit of work. When i was a kid i used to go out to my Uncle's house in the country and he had a Jawa sitting about in his garden, i always liked it because of the Jawa's being a race from Star Wars, lol, when i eventually got into bikes and asked about it, he'd already gotten rid of it.
So another one has cropped up, the best thing is, if fixing this bike up is possible i'll be able to get full time work easily and get back into the swing of things properly. So here's hoping this works out ![]()

Yanno this blog has just reminded me, *looks out of window* Yep that KTM is still there although covered in snow, I'll have to repair that gear return spring for the summer so's I can go and do a bit of shit blasting in the woods!
Good luck with your project! My name is Damien and I'm a survivor!

Jawas, I remember them. Very basic and easy to work on. Its just the quality was a suspect and they rotted easily. MZs were far better quality! I used to have a Cossack 175 when I was a teenager. I did have a thing for Russian and East European bikes back then.

you could start jawa,s with a nail...........seriously. reliable they ain,t..spares cheap though.....if you can do your own roadside repairs worth a punt. i would also avoid/be very wary any of the chinese built machines doing the rounds.....cheep to buy but spares backup poor........ www.voodoorestraints.co.uk

Hey, I found a Cossack/Voskhod 175 on ebay! If only I had the money spare I could be 17 again.... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Voskhod-175-1975_W0QQitemZ... Talk about hens teeth... And no wonder the rims are painted silver, mine were beyond repair in 1980! Edited 11 Feb 09, 10:53 PM by Delphius1

Jawas were definitely the Ladas of motorbikes back in the late 70s and early 80s, but they were sturdy things if a tad on the ruff side, they were a 2 stroke engine that sounded bloody awful but hell, it would be a fun project and certainly different. I haven't seen one for many years now. Cheers Fox
