I really was going to write a proper blog about the end of my first ever veggie growing season... but first one thing delayed it, then another. Anyway the tomatoes were mostly turned into chutney (which was actually very delicious!), the parsnips were all roasted and yummed up and the carrots were boiled, roasted, stirfried or just eaten raw.
Not sure if I will be in a situation to start growing again this year. We shall see. Anyway here are some photos of the veg.
None of these veggies were used in a kinky way (I'm looking at you as I write this Sev), unless you count cooking up some of the carrots and parsnips for Music Lover's delectation.

I notice the tend loving care you offer each vegetable, carefully cradling it in your arms. "The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it."

omg you are so lucky to get carrots and parsnips!!! We have no luck with root veg, though the soil here is made laaaaandaaaan graaaand so we have to import soil. I'd love fresh parsnips. What is your soil like? We do well with peas, spinach and beans though. Our raspberry crop was spectacular the year before last, so good that the weight of the fruit made the bushes collapse. Last year we espaliered our raspberries, the result was that we got to the crop. This year, with optimism over common sense, we are doing sweet potatoes for the first time. We had one good year with potatoes, the other years were hopeless. when you wear those dresses the sun comes shinin' through

I grew all my veg in orange B&Q buckets filled with ordinary compost from the garden centre. I bought special small 'patio' varieties but as you can see they got up to a reasonable size!

I own a proper garden for the first time and I have ordered my seeds... I have quite heavy clay and 10 years of a boring ugly soggy lawn to deal with. The only thing that appears to have survived the previous owners is a very old grape. So I am busy digging and seeding and planting "You say that my way of thinking cannot be tolerated? What of it? Well done! Quite amazing result given the area you had to play with. Wanna come do my allotment this year? Why poison your liver when I could eat it for you?

Your parsnips look fabulous. I'd like to roast them up good. Unfortunately you already did. I wear my heart on my sleeve and my pants on my head

I'll be down to Bristol in a jiffy! I will expect payment in pea pods as per standard "Quit? There is something really rather lascivious in your tone... "Quit? Once I was thinking about quitting when I was diagnosed with brain, lung and testicular cancer, all at the same time.
