Good movie. 'Tis true the people in it have problems, and that these problems may have lead to their kink but: A) Plenty of people ARE kinky because of past issues. That's not to say that all kinky people are as such because they have issues, or even to say that being kinky because of issues is bad, this movie just happens to look at people who do have issues and... B) It doesn't show being kinky because of issues as bad and... C) It shows kink in a positive light in terms of outcomes, as a good thing for the people involved Regardless of 'the message' though, I thought it was entertaining, thoughtful, sexy... and the cinematography was quite interesting. The walls are fucking the ceiling in every scene on the office. Love, love is a verb |

Good reminder. I found this on a DVD before Christmas and buoght it, and then wimped out of gicing it to my dearest as a gift. But maybe it will find its way into circulation now. Watched it myself - strangely intriguing, intense, well scripted and filmed I thought. But not 100% comfortable with storyline. However I'm no film buff - hardly ever watch films.

One of my favourite films since it 'came out'. Maggie Gyllenhaal is damn sexy delivering the mail as she does!
Its tongue in cheek fun. |

Wow, that was quick. The last thread on Secretary is here, and was only a short while ago... Definitely a perennial favourite of a topic. |

I think I'm the only person with an awareness of the world of kink who hasn't seen it. Although I love being a 'one and only' Ed: typo life is like a box of chocolates ........ too many coffee creams ! Edited 5 Feb 09, 10:11 AM by Incandescence |

I was one of one of the lucky ones to see it when it was in the Cinema and harped on about it for weeks after to every one I know. It's back fired a-bit though as now I have 14 copy's of it ! As every one buys them for me :D And every time I see it I enjoy it more it ties with Blade Runner for me. |

My Mistress took me to see it in London when it was first released here. If my memory serves correctly it was a special screening/evening organised via LFS. There were certainly many lovely kinky people there. I do remember walking to and from the Odeon in handcuffs one pace behind my Mistress |

Never seen it. Might watch it: problem is I'd like to watch it with a certain someone. Perhaps she'll record it for me.

The other thread which someone linked to above has some good comments. If we look to for it to be a film *about* BDSM, or even a PR film promoting BDSM, then we're likely to be disappointed. But I think it's fairer to view it as a film which *has* some D/s themes.
