I've just been reading a blog that contained an argument. I very seldom respond to comments on my blog to prevent such things. Thing is, though, people give themselves away with the comments.
It's like if some said "all the foriegners should go back to their own country". They say more about themselves than the argument says in the debate. This is why I don't respond to people's comments, I figure people reading them can tell what sort of person they are, so I don't need to respond. People will make a judgemenr on that person and judge the argument by who's making it.
