Ok after some interest in the BDSM Bikers thread I am going to (try to!) organise a meet up and ride out for all of the kinky bike types in the South East.
Hopefully if it goes well, we could make it a regular thing to and from different locations in the South East. I am thinking along the lines of something like, a run out from London to Southend and back, or naturally for some folk based at the Essex end of the route, they could do it the other way! So basically something like- London meeters meet at the Ace Cafe (London) to ride to Southend, where we stop at an agreed point to eat, drink, munch kind of thing and hook up with the people who are doing the run the other way (ie, Southend to London) then we all ride back to finish at Ace, and the London meeters go off home and anyone who came from the Southend start point goes back en masse. I hope that makes more sense typed out than it did in my head! Firstly, London seems like an obvious start/ end point and I picked Southend as it was suggested in the other thread, does Southend seem ok with you all? If not, then where would you suggest as an alternative and why? Date wise I think a Sunday is generally good for most people and February being just about the shittest time of the year to be on two wheels, and also to allow time to gather interest and agree on dates, some time towards the latter half of March? Say, the Sunday the 22nd March or 29th March. That also gives us some leeway to check if there is anything we might want to avoid (road closures and such) on one of those dates, and agree on a route and fine tune the details. Thoughts on this? Lastly, I hope you all don't think this is a twatty idea or that I am going about it in an odd way, I have never tried to organise anything like this before so please bear with me! Any thoughts/ suggestions gratefully received, either post here or memo me! Thanks. Speak softly, and carry a big stick.

I'll walk down to Southend seafront and meet you there... If you do pick Southend, I'm happy to share any tips about where to go, avoid etc. The feral cat among the pigeons.

Pretty good plan, tho' I'm less keen on riding in convoy, generally I prefer riding alone or just wityh 1-2 mates. Meeting up at Ace would be fun on classic car/bike nights - or to make it simpler the first time, just to rv with others at Chelsea Bridge (so beloved of the cruising brigade) and weave in convoy to one of the London munches would also get me astride!

It would be nice to meet up for lunch with any non biking kinkers in the area too...
I think riding in convoy would only be done very loosely anyway, to be honest, but a nice country run out to start the warm weather season (though I am a little concerned by the Easter snow we had last year!) will be nice. Speak softly, and carry a big stick.

I think you deserve a gold star for trying. Theres no hard and fast rule to organising it, but from previous experience of bike clubs, you'll be expected to be responsible for everything, including traffic conditions, the weather, and people who cant follow simple directions, like "GO TO SARFEND!" You might wanna post it up a few times too, so it doesnt get "buried". Might see you, work permitting. I think too much, therefore I am a bit of a twat.

Agreed... I'll keep an eye open for more info nearer the time then.
May just see about getting a first stage tune by then too

Good luck with this. Please let us know the date when you have one and we'll see what we can do in mustering a few munch bunchers together this end. There might even be one or two up for the ride back.

Certainly will do.
At this point I will just check back every few days to see how many people are interested at all- If there's less than five or so, it's not going to be worth it! Speak softly, and carry a big stick.

...five's a GOOD number for a rideout. You dont want thirty-odd assorted bikes from coughing MZ's to gaudy superbikes, and all rider abilities inbetween, all straining at their respective leashes and not remotely riding together.... Ahh.. a whole new bunch of protocols.

My Mistress and I could be interested- if it's warm enough (insert smilie with chattering teeth and frozen fingers!). We both ride Triumphs. We'll keep an eye on the posts. Rob |
