We got the membership and havnt yet attended on an evening. We have however attended all the markets, knowing we didnt have to purchase the membership, but did it in anticipation of a time when we could , work permitting. As pointed out by Graeme it wasnt compulsory to become a member to attend the market.
Hope that clears any worries regarding membership purchase

very dissapointed at yet another cancellation/change.
many people, who can not go to evening events, will have bought membership to attend the fayre, that they will now not be able to use.

agreed membership was not compulsary to attend the fayre, i should have been clearer and apologise for any confusion, i was speaking about people who may have bought membership, solely for the benefit of reduced entry cost. and Lady Stardust sang her songs, of..... ..............Darkness and Disgrace.

Its all cool hun ....
members can still get reduced rates as far as i am aware and ~~HUGE GRIN~~ we can now attend as its on a Saturday and no work next day.
Not saying its going to be every month as with everyone the credit crunch reduces things one can do BUT will try our best to go to as many as we can..
Hope to see you at one

Can we have some positives please? We are responding as best we can while all around us, other clubs are closing. It's incredibly difficult to bring a new event in, fighting against prejudice, unlawful action by police and councils, bitching by scene members, general complacency and trying so hard to please everyone all the the time.
I would appreciate no more arsy memos, please, I do not deserve them and will not tolerate them. Tim and I are so tempted to simply withdraw from the attempt, we continue simply because there are enough who ahve given us unquestioning support and so many who ahve so thoroughyl enjoyed the space to play.
If you can't make the dates, keep quiet, let those who can enjoy it. Don't take it away from them

Hey that's a bit uncalled for isn't it? This is a webboard; people can post what they like as long as it's within the AUP . There are plenty of event threads where folk say they can't attend for whatever reason, doesn't mean its meant in a negative way. I am sure there are a lot of people who are disappointed by the change yet again for Kinkdom. Surely you can see that expressing their disappointment is really a reflection of how good they have found the event in the past? which in my view is actually quite positive.

such a shame Sir and I were really looking forward to attending the fayre in March and had already put the date in the diary. Similarly, I can understand the 'Health and Safety' aspects of looking after your volunteers and attendees.
In this sense, good luck to you with the change of venue, and on a personal note, Saturdays are much better for us too! :D
Oh, and on the note of memberships, Sir and I are members of KD, and as of yet are to attend any of the events... due to personal circumstances, apart from the first one we have been unable to attend Never once have we felt the minimal charge for membership however has been wasted, when just a small amount of money can be used to show support of a new event, and help it get off the ground!
Good luck KD!

The shame of me having to call the Health and Safety card, so much abused these days. But we just couldn't see to clear all the glass and so it would only be a matter of time before someone got hurt.

Health and Safety wouldn't stop anyone picking up glass or cleaning toilets (cleaners would be out of jobs if it did). Not that I'm suggesting you or your volunteers should do this, but it's the idea of you condemning 'abuse' of the H&S laws and then...well, you know.

As cleaning is my trade I have to back Lady Alpha on this one as I was one of the people going around on my hands and knees picking up small pieces of glass before each event, we had complained to the management who did talk to the cleaners but unfortunately they still did not do a good enough job, we are not talking about a little bit, but quite alot of glass had to be cleared away. Every effort was made between Kinkdom and Livingstones to find an adequate solution to this problem that suited both sides, unfortunately this was unatainable, leading to the unfortunate change in venue and the loss of the market at this time flying high is fun ( suspention that is hee hee )

I wasn't doubting the veracity of LadyAlpha's comments regarding the glass and mess; AFAIK both she and her partner have put a lot of effort into Kinkdom and I'm sure they didn't make this decision lightly.
However, H&S - as I'm sure you're aware - involves Risk Assessments and Risk Awareness. Toilets and broken glass *can* be cleaned in a way that complies with H&S. It's not the Health and Safety Laws that are forcing Kinkdom into making changes. It *may* be the reticence for Kinkdom and the volunteers to do it themselves (and I can totally understand that!), but using H&S as a reason just doesn't wash (well, not without full COSHH information on the washing product ;o) )
