16th of January 2009, the third Friday of the year, is International Fetish Day: a day belonging to everyone with a fetish.
During the year, InternationalFetishDay.com will provide news and links to what people and organisations will be doing on the day.

I'll be making a purple hole in the ground and burying my hope that BDSM becomes accepted as a valid sexuality rather than treated as a disgusting hobby or mental illness.
For a Fetish Day concept to be successful I say it needs to be backed by an identifiable/contactable organisation with clearly stated aims. That organisation needs to promote the concept and generate publicity well before the date. The organisation also needs the support of those people it claims to represent. Sadly the BDSM community contains a substantial proportion of people who actually prefer the status quo, don't believe in the pursuit of wider acceptance of BDSM, so probably won't support Fetish Day in any form.

More than that, by 15 days before the event, I would expect the people behind it to be giving everyone an idea whats going on.
The whole concept seemed to die last year.
It's easy to tell the difference between right and wrong. What's hard is choosing the wrong that's more right.
I tend to be suspicious of all true believers. Present company included.

Yeah, I'll wear purple and will be on hols up in Manchester and on the look-out for similarly purple-garbed civilians out and about on the street to whom I shall be most warm and friendly.
If there's anything else going on besides wearing purple, I do not know about it...

I'll be writing angry letters to the Scottish Parliament about the anti-porn legislation. I may do more, I'm not sure. I'd really like to get the word out to the community that this law exists and is built upon false foundations.
