I recently had an email from Lorelei saying that this position can cause nerve issues, especially in those who are not as young and flexible as they once were. I have to say, this problem was a new one on me. Anyway, be careful. You are as safe as you want to be...but no safer

When i was a yoga regular i was easily able to get my elbows to meet behind. Now a days it might be more problematic. But as has been posted lots of stretching prior to being tied certainly helps.

I used to be able to do this when I did yoga...yoga is so great for all sorts of things re fitness/flexibility. "It is never too late to be what you might have been."

Hi mbr 01, I've always avoided this with my subs as I suspect it could easily cause excessive pain or injury. A good alternative is to strap wrist-to-elbow and wrist-to-elbow behind the back.
This is inescapable, and the sub knows it, but has a fairly high "struggle quotient" (Please Daddy, let me go - I'll promise I'll never do it again")

woo hoo i can now do reverse prayer for a minute yay, elbows together next step. this is probably as a result of a less stringent training routine though, as soon as things pick up i'll most likely lose it.
hmmm maybe i can pursuade the giant mongolian bloke who likes making people cry to stretch me. Thus I clothe my naked villainy with old odd ends taken forth from holy writ and do seem a saint when most I play the Devil! Shakespeare

Thanks Badgl! I had fun at that workshop too! The fact is, some people will never be able to put their elbows completely together due to their build. Generally those with muscular backs or broad shoulders are least likely to be able to "touch elbows" behind their back. For all others, it may just take some stretching before the scene...but remember, how hard the rigger has to "push" the elbows together also affects how long someone can stay in that position. The more "force" used, the less play time. Usually it is narrow shoulders females in their late teens and early twenties than can touch elbows with any effort at all and therefore they can stay in this position the longest. take care, Chanta

I have no problem with getting my elbows together behind my back but then I'm of a very light build, still I was far more flexible as a kid. Just need to figure out how to tie my elbows behind my back on my own. Symbols can never be what it is they represent.

I do know some very big guys who can put their elbows together easily. (mostly aerialists and acrobats) Muscle in itself shouldn't prevent you as long as you stretch sufficiently, esp after exertion.
The main thing to stop you isn't so much your back as your chest and shoulders.
In fact I've had my elbows put together many times during assisted chest stretches, I just have to achieve it now without the tears. For many slighter people it's often not so much lack of flexibility that stops them as much as muscle and nerve tension. If someone knows what they're doing a little massage to release the appropriate areas can do more than half an hour of stretching. (this is more true of something like reverse prayer but still applies for elbows together as well) Thus I clothe my naked villainy with old odd ends taken forth from holy writ and do seem a saint when most I play the Devil! Your mission, should you chose to accept it, because here is one I did earlier**. ==>> I know a certain Lady, who thought it was a giggle, and thinks she could do better.... And Trillium, well impressed man. Your post got the wheels turnin' and gear crunching - think I have sussed how you could do that. Needs an attachemnt point just below shoulder height. **eta - I tied it - I can't do the wonky arms thing! Why poison your liver when I could eat it for you? Edited 13 Feb 09, 10:28 PM by Jahc99

Hello Jahc99, Sorry to be so incognizant but could you elaborate on 'Needs an attachemnt point just below shoulder height.'? I found I can loop and coil my elbows together with leaving plenty of slack easily enough, and can tighten and take up the slack with my mouth with difficulty, if I'd hitched it I may well have gotten myself stuck. I'm thinking I could try following on the tie with a second coil around my wrists and hitch that off but I don't think I would be able to take up the slack I would need to do it. I had a look through your photos, it was too tempting after seeing the one in your last post. Very nice, photography, bondage, setting, and model wise.
