Earlier this year my answer would've been 'uncomfortably'.
Today I received two, one for my complexion and another for my handwriting. I'm proud to say I felt no awkwardness. Both compliments were surprising and very pleasant. I beamed a big beam of a smile, said 'thank you', and walked away feeling wonderful.
Can you see me beam...

I feel better about myself. I'm not looking for the flaws when someone gives me a compliment. Instead, I'm able to enjoy the fact that someone has noticed something they like about about me and are kind/giving enough to say so. I'm getting better at giving compliments too... Beam...

It's difficult, isn't it? I've only just started to receive complements in the spirit they were given. In my case, it was a case of not feeling good about myself. It was probably when I got online and started "meeting" people like myself that things started to change. Now I've met people in r/l and have a strong network of real friends, and life is really good!
Glad things are working out for you and that you are happy enough to take a complement |
