It's not that long ago that I was recommending that people insist on XP when buying new kit, but the new Vista Service Pack (SP1) seems to have fixed most of the problems, and I now prefer Vista. I'm actually thinking of replacing two of my machines, just to use some of the new stuff in Vista. (I have three PC's, 1 on Vista, 2 on XP, as well as a laptop that I'm also thinking of upgrading, partly to get to Vista). I would strongly recommend against upgrading any functioning computer from XP to Vista if it's over a year old. Even if you have enough memory, you're likely to have trouble with driver compatibility. I've never had a good experience upgrading any computer from one version of Windows to another. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. | ||||

never dual booted and never use a windows machine if i can help it...Mac all the way! When in doubt, make a fool of yourself. There is a microscopically thin line between being brilliantly creative and acting like the most gigantic idiot on earth. So what the hell, leap. Cynthia Heimel |
