Well it finally got to be Friday. A message left for me in the middle of the night saying that where we were going was 60 miles away.
So not many places to choose from then
MoK arrived early and, in that way Dom's have he hung the curtains that I couldn't reach because I was too short and subby, and he put mastic round the bath because I was too subby and messy to be allowed to do it.
The we went to bed for a bit and I was allowed to do something, and MoK kept score on the bedside table with matches.
We got up eventually and sorted ourselves out and went to Starbucks for lunch. I was very self conscious because I had a wet patch like a map of Africa on the seat of my dress.
The man in front of us took the last cinnamon swirl, thereby saving me from myself, because the words gingerbread latte and a cinnamon swirl and entwined in my head.
After face feeding we set off and head to the M25 turning left rather than right so I was assuming we weren't doing Surrey or Sussex, and indeed we headed for the tunnel, and I was rather dazzled by teh fact that MoK has a machine that lets him through without putting any money in. We crossed in territory unknown to me and a sign as we came out of the tunnel said here be dragons, but we were undaunted - well MoK was, I just sat there and let myself be taken as I had been all morning.
We got to the hotel a Premier thingy in Basildon and checked in and booked our breakfasts ( what is it that makes an hotel breakfast so much better than the same thing cooked at home).
After adding more to his matchstick collection MoK and I showered and dressed, and went out to the car - looking rather spiffing if I do say myself and shouldn't and we set off. We arrived in Southend - a place I have never been to before, and as we turned into a car park i saw the sign
IT WAS A CASINO
we had a wonderful dinner, with a splendid bottle of merlot which made me rather fizzy, and then we made £20 last rather a long time and eventually left £20 better off.
I was terrified that we would lose it again so I asked to see the rest of the Casino, and then we went to add more matchsticks.
MoK has a lot of them now.
In the morning I was woken by kisses across my shoulders and it was so lovely.
We had our delish brekkies - well MoK had double - after all that matchstick collecting he was doubtless a little peckish, and drove back here in the morning sunshine
And dear readers I haven't stopped smiling since......

I am soooooooo pleased for you both that it went off without a hitch. I was dying to get the mollie report. Excellent news that it was so brilliant and you're still grinning.
You'll notice that I didn't make a single comment about the wet patch on your dress - oh bugger! I just blew it! Yay to that mollie and yay to that MoK too.
Have you any idea how effective government censorship is?..... No?..... Effective isn't it ! | ||

Sometimes I lie awake at night, and I ask, "Where have I gone wrong?"/ Then a voice says to me, "This is going to take more than one night."" |
