Have had it drawn to my email that there was a nasty post somewhere on the site encouraging working of dogs.

Gun dogs apart most of that activity is highly illegal.

Anyone spot it ?

You'd have to define "nasty" really. I've seen a post, but didn't see anything I'd consider to be "nasty" in it.

ETA: The post I saw wasn't encouraging anything either, so maybe it's not the one you heard about.

Yep, saw one too, the activities mentioned were definitely perfectly legal ....I also did not consider it nasty but I guess that's subjective.

The blog wasnt nasty, it was about vermin control and dogs working in that area. Far better IMNSHO to use dogs and guns on rats than poison, dont you think?

I read the post too. I didn't find it nasty and without spending too much time checking I am pretty sure it was well within the law.

And I agree with Sweetiejar. Rats do need to be controlled, they carry awful diseases and since a farm is the first step in food production rats are not acceptable. Surely a terrier quickly dispatching a rat is far more humane than rat poison entering the food chain.

i just read a post about someone buying a new dog and using dogs for catching rats ...

didn't see anything nasty ... whats wrong with a dog working .. they are natural hunters .. we had rats in our yard and i have baited but always worry that cats may eat it .. but the man from a shop two doors down has a terrier that goes bonkers when it sees a rat .. it loves killing them !

all for one and fuck the rest

Killing animals (for food or control) is an emotive subject but think about it....

Poison the ecosystem or use an animal that was bred to get rid of pests?

Get your mass-produced meat in Tesco or go get your own free running version?

It wasn't about bloodlust it was about putting my beliefs into action and whether I could do it or not. I eat meat.

Not nasty just putting my money where my mouth is.

Most dogs are working dogs, they thrive on it. Some terriers are nicknamed *ratters* that's what they do catch rats it also save the Eco system from all the crap put down such as rat poison. :-)

Only naughty girls wear panties. I don't wear them as I am such a good girl. But the Demon says: if I'm really naughty I will be made to wear them, & if I'm really bad it will be something with a key, all week=-o

My ex subbie used to live on a farm and aprt from being a pretty good shot with a shotgun, she used to encourage her terriers to go ratting, bearing mind some field rats can be as big as the terrier it didn't seem to bother them.

We're not talking fluffy fancy rats, we're talking big hard as nails, field rats which are somewhat more aggressive!

I think the most caught in a single sitting was around 30 odd. plus a few suffering from lead shot overdose.

I made a note in my diary on the way over. It simply says "Bugger".
