I've been looking at this situation the last few months on and off since a model friend mentioned it to me due to the vague and worrying guidlines (I like to do a bit of photography which can be a bit quirky), apart from obviouly blatant pornographic or erotic work with a strong clearly defined nature of anything mentioned fitting into an obvious violent nature Ive seen them giving photographic examples of what they deem fits into this category and was shocked to find fully clothed non sexual pics of goth girls with a bit of fake blood on their face being put in this category, lp covers such as American punk band the Dwarves, Maddonas book 'sex' and various other items which you could soon be going in the slammer for such as horror films some which I saw no correlation to anything sexual what so ever (I think these people have some fucked up turn ons! haha)

I cant tell you my distain for these people in authority, I can perhaps understand concern at blatantly hard /dodgy themes but goth girls with tomato ketchup on their face?!!!???

only a moron could not distinguish the difference

These people are seriously not right in the head

Censorships a odd area as I dont like the thought of people imposing restrictions but at the same time a lot of people ARE influenced and hypnotized by propoganda, images etc etc

a prime example being these bunch of cunts in their own little subjective hypnotic loop deeming whats correct for everyone and imposing it on all and sundry ;) if thats not a good example of brainwashing I dont know what is!

Now if I was in power maybe Id censor them! *titters*

I think this is just another part of a bigger agenda to impose on peoples lives and introduce tighter control, manipulation and social hypnosis using fear, moral warfare and all those subtle little double talking tricks they love so well. I know full well what goes on having friends who have worked in govt psychology and its just another game of theirs

fragment the population through media lies of terrorism , social violence, health epidemics etc etc.......everyone will then be suspicious of one another, scared to go out or interact with other people (and hence unable to form a significvant threat to them) or move and do anything creative thats not within their guidlines and will be nice and easy for them to control

fear is the best way to control people

oh and its rather amusing how a couple of tame theatrical photos are going to be classed as extreme porn and corrupting but mass murder and rape in warfare are obviously contributing to the good of humanity

but then this is the same govt who in WW2 prescribed experminental drugs they wished to use on the enemy to British pregnant housewives through theit GP's (yes we dont hear much about that do we even though it actually occured)

lovely

I agree that this legislation is hopelessly vague and uncertain. There is such a wide spectrum of material out there and you simply do not know where you stand as has already been noted in this thread in relation to spanking v caning (and that is only one example of the kind of categorisation that will be necessary but will surely prove impossible).

Personally, I have decided to stop looking at these kind of sites full stop after 23 Jan 2009. I would also like to completely cleanse my laptop e.g. hard drive. I am bit of a luddite however. Can anyone advise or point me in the right direction for information on the best way of achieving that - to the extent it is possible.

Thanks in advance.

There's some discussion of what might be necessary, and links to useful software to securely delete material, at http://www.informedconsent.co.uk/posts/217005/ .

Sign the statement against criminalisation of possession "extreme" images. See http://www.backlash-uk.org.uk/ and http://www.seenoevil.org.uk/wiki/index.php/Main_... for more details.

what keeps me up at night is this:

we are an easy target... no one wants to protect our right to view bdsm porn, because frankly to a lot of vanilla people it's distasteful. But once the government has normalised the idea that at a stroke it can criminalise a sub-section of our society, it will pick another, and another. These will not be powers a government will necessarily use, but instead cards that they keep up their collective sleeve as a means to discredit or remove persons that for whatever reason they find dangerous or undesirable. How long will it be before someone complains to their council one to many times and then gets a knock at the door from someone who has a pretext to check their hard drive?
