I love everything about Christmas.
The tree with it's twinkly lights, good home cooked food, good company, wintry weather and cosy rooms.
Our cake is now in the oven with four hours to go.
Nutmeg, cinnamon, mixed spice, dates, fruit, treacle, pecans and apricot brandy...
It smells gorgeous and has made me feel all jolly and festive... 
Just finished the clearing up.
I'm going to put my feet up, have a cup of tea and inhale the warm, spicy, cake smell for the rest of the afternoon.

I made mine about a month ago and its had a few dousings of whiskey and brandy (to keep it moist ya know). At this stage I will have to warn people of drink driving laws before they have a slice. | ||

there is something very wrong with christmas cake and christmas pudding ... although i may treat myself to some marzipan ! chocolate cake for me .. to be made on xmas eve .. all for one and fuck the rest | ||

Hey...I've just bought the ingredients to have a practice run on my Christmas cake, its not a traditional one, its called Fig and hazelnut cube cake...It looks dead impressive...The other cake is a beautifuly crafted cocolate cake with dark berries...Cube cake is first... Mine's late cuz I've been poorly. I soaked the fruit for about three days and added extra alcohol. I'll be doing extra dousing over the next couple of weeks.
Lol... it has to be alcoholic or it's just not christmas cake

Go to Tesco's and ask for Anthon Bergs Raa Marzipan... it's 60% almond content (not like the usual shop stuff which is only 20%)... It's delish...
