Having decided recently to start posting on IC weblogs and boards I have become frustrated with the way that IC works. Not being new to blogging and having numerous blogs of different sites I do see a few pitfalls with the way that IC works. Could I make the following suggestions that would really improve things and encourage me to blog more or IC and less on blogspot. The first one is quite simply this when a reply or quote+reply is added to your weblog a memo is generated to tell the author that there has been a post. The only way to do this now appears to be keep checking the post or is it that I am missing something. The second is really just a nice to have. It would appear that you can bookmark boards and they appear in “Your Boards” but normally I only want to follow a topic not a complete board. Would it be possible to extend the system so as you could bookmark a topic or even get sent a memo when a topic changes. Hope all this makes sense

You can of course check back in your posting history.

That facility is already there. In the Bookmarks menu of your browser select Add Bookmark. Science, the only religion that works even if you don't believe in it.

I have this feature turned off on every site I use to blog or write on. I'm on the site anyway, it's no hassle to check to see if someone has replied. I don't need yet another email or memo telling me it has happened. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So maybe have it as a setting

Indeed so but if it was made into an RSS feed would that not be even better.

Didn't there use to be this option/ability or was it changed/removed? Or is my brain just lying to me, as it likes to do now and then. Life moves pretty fast, if you don't sit back once in a while you may miss it.

I would like to see this too. I have had a blog receive a comment 2 years after I originally posted the blog. I so nearly missed it, and had I missed it, I would have missed a whole lot else that was to ensue from that comment. If not a memo, then perhaps a page of "recent activity on your posts" similar to flikr.

I'd love to have that - it's often that you reply to a blog that is older than a week or so - no one ever sees your reply by then because it's so far back, and if someone sees it, it's weeks or months later :/

So why not write to the blog writer directly if you want them to know what you said? If you're posting so more people than the blog writer can read it, then why not make your own blog? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I still think a 'bump' action on the blogs, like there are on the boards would be a good thing. But it is what it is, and you just have to find a way to communicate with people or, just not care to much. I'm not evil.... Just gifted |
