Payday is on Tuesday. Beans, tuna mayonnaise and cheese on toast for tea tonight - so wrong, but so right! Admittedly I was pushing the luxury boat out a bit with the cheese...

SPAM! I don't think I've had that since I was tiny.

Pasta and pesto (with added cheese) is a sensible staple. Or rice with pesto and some form of cheese. Hmm, I'm sensing a theme here...

Make soup. Use chicken thighs, potato, onions, carrots and soup mix. Lasts days and is very yummy.

Oh no, if you're going to go to the trouble of the chicken and fresh veg, don't sully it with soup mix!!! :-$

Three of the most underrated meals, imho, are

1) baked potato (oven not microwave) with raw chopped onion and grated red leicester cheese

2) cheese on toast with Branston under the cheese

3) really nice sardines on toast

Whenever I eat these things I always go whoargggggh!

nom nom nom

edited to say syndeemeals this week have been:

lemon sole with pea tops, pecan and hazelnut crunch and sesame seed roasted sweet potatoes, peas and lemon sauce

pan fried haloumi with roasted beetroots and onions with sweet potato chips

meatballs and spaghetti

veg curry (carrot sweet potato parsnip onions ginger garlic and half a ton of spices)

golabki and sweet potatoes and tomato sauce with mushrooms

Made with a full tray of chicken thighs and a large bag of potaoes you have soup that will last a week, cheapest way to eat that I know.

That's the only right way to have cheese on toast. I may splash out on some nice sardines, I had some cheap ones the other day and they were...fine.

pan fried haloumi with roasted beetroots and onions with sweet potato chips

This sounds lush!

Jezzebelle, creme fraiche is a good shout.

Sweetiejar, chicken soup's a classic! I'm trying to cut down on meat at the moment but a big chunky veggie one would do the job.

Chickpea salad with feta, fried aubergine, red onion, tomato etc is another winner.

I really must get out of bed and to the shops! I may head down to the market and treat myself...

All the soarings of my mind begin in my blood.
