I know its totally off topic but I am sure that everyone shares the views about the cruelty that baby P endured and that the people responsible should be brought to justice and also the authorties should be brought to answer as well I am not sure how many of you read the SUN but on this occassion I have and I have also signed the petition and would ask anyone on here to do the same. I will send the link for everyone to do so:

It would scare me that any authority would respond to such media propaganda as a petition from the sun.

I hate the Sun usually but in this case I agree with them

I agree that the people responsible should be brought to justice, but it was his mother, her boyfriend and the lodger who murdered him. They have been tried and convicted. It was not a social worker, or a health visitor, or a social services manager who killed this baby. This trial by media is making me really angry - if anyone thinks being a social worker is walk in the park, maybe they would like to try it for a while. Whenever a social worker makes a decision when it comes to the safeguarding of children they risk being accused of intervening wrongly, or not doing enough. For the Sun to start a petition and to harass these individuals on their doorsteps, including the woman who did try and get the baby taken into care, is absolutely appalling. This trial by media panders to the lowest common denominator in society, and to mob rule.

It might be a bit premature for those of us who know nothing about the case other than sensationalised media reports to demand the sacking of all the social workers involved.

Perhaps it would be better to wait for the numerous detailed inquiries that are now going on to take a proper look at the evidence and speak to the people involved, giving them a chance to account for themselves. And then let those people who actually have all the facts available decide what sanctions should be imposed on people.

It is a shame the Sun prefers to stir up a witch hunt rather than trying to take a measured view, but that's tabloid journalism for you. It is a very poor way of trying to make sure children are better protected in the future. Lynch mobs aren't going to produce better child protection, much more likely they will drive out competent social workers who are able to find other jobs and leave behind only the desperate, the useless and the very few precious jewells so dedicated to the job that they won't leave it for all the flak that is flung at them.

Go ahead and sign if you want to vent your anger, but if you actually want to achieve better child protection in the future don't touch it with a barge pole.

The sun claims to care but makes sensationalist statements to attract readers with by lines like this one "DISTURBING files never published before lay bare the full horror of Baby P's short life".

I won't sign anything put forward by the Sun, however harrowing the case is.
