Get them a present from John Lewis and just see their little faces.

Delight the whole family

I'd love to but the last of my grandparents (both grandmothers) died 14 years ago 2 months apart - BUGGER! And now I'm a semi orphan (my mum died a couple of years ago) Makes you realise how precious they are. Mind you I was lucky 'cos although my parents were just short of 40 when I was born I was into my 30's before I lost my grannies and my mid-40's when my mum died.

So to all of you out there who have grandparents and parents still around SPOIL THEM, cos in the words of Jodie Mitchell "You don't know what you've got 'til it's gone".

I'd sell my soul to have them back hale and healthy (mind you that would make my paternal gran 105, my maternal gran 102 and my mum almost 85!)

I'm with you hun, do your best to please your nearest and dearest, it doesn't mean spending loadsa money but sometimes spending time with them is the greatest gift of all

Mine are long gone too, I'm afraid. But if the picture on the John Lewis website is anything to go by, I'm kind of glad that I played safe and got them M & S vouchers when they were around.

It's only a weblog :-)

My grandmothers wouldn't have known what to do with gift vouchers so good ole honest-to-goodness actual pressies always fit the bill. Like wincyette nighties and flannelette sheets (anyone remember them?!) or, in the case of my dad's mum, a bottle of scotch!!! She had a teaspoonful in her first dish of tea in the morning and lived to be turned 90, so much for all the medics warnings about alcohol - mind you she didn't drive so be warned!

I have one grandparent...my nan. She has 16 children and what seems like 30,000 grandchildren. Therefore she pretty much gets everything and anything she wants/needs....what the hell do I get HER?

I saw the John Lewis advert on telly tonight, and they looked every bit as "delighted" with their gifts as they do on the website :-$
