"If you don't, I won't!" was his catchphrase, at the end of opening credits, pointing his revolver at camera. Perps he shot were said to have "got Stoned!" That should give you some idea of how good it was! Tovarich is a combination of frothy comedy with bitter political undertones.- googlism

Well Master Stone, i think that you can call yourself whatever you want to call yourself. Surely if a Master can re-name a sub, then he can also insist he is addressed in whatever way he likes.

Funny but sublyn finds that "Evil Bastard Dom" and "Fucking Bastard Dom" seem to work well for her when she's addressing me whilst hanging from the hoist. I really can't think why though

Wow, this is a long thread. It is interesting that many people seem to have misunderstood your first question, despite your later clarification. I think in a social context a dominant should not expect to be called anything except his or her name. Anything short of 'Oi, you!' is ok with me. However, on occasion I have been called 'sir' by a submissive who does not belong to me, and this is always gratifying. Not for any reasons of personal aggrandisement, but because it is a way of formalising our station in the d/s dynamic. In normal life I would *hate* being called 'sir', but in a BDSM situation it seems completely right to me. But it is certainly not something I would expect; all I do expect is that we all, dominant or submissive, treat each other with mutual respect.

I have a habit of calling Badwulf either bastard or cunt, suits him well... td "A masochist walked up to a sadist, and said 'Hurt me'. The sadist said 'No' and walked away."

In my experience, people either use their IC name, or their real name, or yet another name they use!
If you're uncomfortable with the "Master" bit of your IC name in public, you could always introduce yourself as "I'm Master_Stone on IC but everyone calls me Stone" - in the same way as I say, "I'm littlenic on IC but everyone calls me Nic" (although that's slightly different, what with Nic being my real name Names are funny though. I'm off to a big wonderful party with lots of kinky friends at the weekend, and my owners. I'd say that for the vast majority of people there I'll know, I'll know two if not three (or more) different names for them - IC names, real names, scene names, role names... I go with what people seem to be most comfortable with.
Although I'll introduce my owners to people by whatever name they tell me they're comfortable with, I'll continue to refer to them as Sir and Miss all the time - I think my lovely friends will cope fine with that! It's all quite complicated, isn't it - but a necessary side effect I think of "what we do" and people's desire for anonymity and/or protocol. Just find something you're comfortable with, and don't worry too much about what it looks like to others.

I suppose I'm lucky in as far as the vast majority of people, scene and vanilla, still use my nickname that I've had for 45 plus years anyway. Very few people even know my given name and even fewer use it.
