Guitar Hero 4 has just arrived. With drums.
I will never get a sensible word out of the lad again. Ever.

He's gonna have a go with the guitar first until he's confident enough to play with the drum kit. Although he is enjoying titting about with them very much. And he's just hit me on the arse with a drumstick. He is in So Much Shit We're not going anywhere tonight. I'll get him to post a review. One of God's own prototypes, a high powered mutant of some kind, never considered for mass production. Too weird to live, too rare to die.

I've seen these guitar games, and I have a PS3. But I'm also a guitar player (self taught - not bad). I've always thought that I wouldn't get on with these games. Any fellow guitarists have a view? While only being a decided amateur, the thing to realise is that it's just a game. It doesn't really 'simulate' playing a guitar at all. It's just a fun dexterity challenge that happens to be set to music. The drum stuff is probably more akin to actual playing to an extent though. I wish I could just use my existing electronic set and not have to buy their relatively craptastic ones. :[ Anyways, I was cynical about it for a while too, but it's just a lot of fun. Try and find some games store with a Guitar Hero or Rock Band demo running and give it a go.

* looks at his shelf that contains Guitar Hero 2, 3, World Tour and RockBand. * looks around the side of the fishtank to see a bundle of plastic instruments
I'm a guitarist and love these games, I can do most stuff on Expert now WHILST doing all sorts of spinal tap / chuck berry style prancing around. Edited 14 Nov 08, 9:57 PM by EroticNightmares

While it might not, it does allow you to improve the independence of your fingers - which helps when playing tabs - and to build up those calluses from excessive GH action. eta - em dashes. say your cliché like you mean it. Edited 15 Nov 08, 12:22 AM by Kapital

Wouldn't that make it Drum Hero? I'm a blank sheet waiting to become a picture. |
