Well done that man :)

I never thought our American cousins would ignore the race card and vote for the better candidate, but they proved me wrong. And when you consider we are still in living memory of when a black person couldnt vote, were segregated and their fate sealed at birth, this is momentous.

Well done Obama. Well done America.

Now, the real work begins...

That would be keeping him alive.

I do agree with you though, he is the better man. I am surprised though, for the same reasons as you.

The first Dubya Bush election wasn't that long ago.

I hide the truth.
I hide it out there in the open where anyone can see it.

That might be harder than it sounds. I read in the paper recently that two Neo-Nazi youths were arrested and had been planning to kill Obama. They were going to wear white tuxedo's and top hats. I digress... the point is they were actually arrested because they were buying ski masks and rope and they were going to kill a bunch of people at a black community college or something. Their Obama plot was only let out the bag after they were arrested

I was going on holiday and went to check my bags in. The girl sais, "Window seat or aisle?" I replied "Window seat or I'll what??"

Dont misunderstand me, I think it will be very very hard. The Neo-Nazis will be outraged and I am sure many of them have already well advanced plans for his assassination.

I think he is a very brave man, I dont think he will make it to the end of his term, he may not make it to the inaugaration, however I think that if he is assassinated it will trigger the biggest riots the US have ever seen.

We live in interesting times.

I feel compelled to agree with You about the riots, should he be assassinated then people will I guess take another look at America and think "What happened to America within 145 years is redundant, they are still an archaic Country with archaic value. I pray he makes it and wish the whole world to change and progress upon this Journey.

About time there was change . Yay for Barack Obama :) :) :)

I'm not really one for Politics but when someone different comes along it's wonderful. So what's next then. A black Prime Minister in GB?? We had a female PM, why not a black PM??

I have been watching the news this morning and watching the black reaction in the US. Black people are over the moon and I can understand why, this is a major achievement....but I have to wonder what they think will be different. Do they think that a black president will wipe away the injustice of the endemic racism in some parts of the US? Do they think he will wipe away the ghettos? or the gangs or the drug problem? Do they think he will improve their lives whilst they do nothing but sit back and watch it happen? I dont know and I think its going to be a bumpy ride.

I've always thought that it should be the best person for the job, not because they are black, white, mixed race, male or female, red or blue. I live in a traditionaly strong Labour area and have always said that the Labour party could put up a deaf blind monkey here and get it elected.

He's actually half white half black but in fact is a very light skinned black man. A bit like the first black woman to win an Oscar, Halle Berry, another very beautiful half caste woman.

Do you think this sits easier with white voters?

I hear he's a very inexperienced guy, I just hope he does better than Bush, and that's nothing to do with his colour.

Well... I think the better man, regardless of colour, won and I believe him to be a good man but... American politics is strongly influenced by the corporations.

Withdrawing from Iraq and Afghanistan will be what I judge him by... and that will leave the incompetent and integrity-challenged Brown administration high and dry.

I remain cynical... as I do about all politicians!!

There's only one thing worse than not getting what you want... and that's getting it!
