With Doms and subs, I find it firstly most useful to distinguish between players (who want kinky fun roleplay but no commitment) and those who want meaningful relationships that go beyond sex and kink.

Both are good, but it helps to know what potentials you are dealing with from the start.

and how about those who think the sex and kink is the meaningful thing, that it is exactly there they find whatever they want?

i would rather distinguish some people as irresponsible and some as responsible.

There are as many sorts of dom as there are people.

Kneel bitch dom.

Oh, and the 'At LAST, a way to get bloody women to do what I want' dom.

Aren't these two variations of the same thing? ;-)

The main thing I ask a potential sub, is whether they are more interested in sado-masochism or Dominance and submission. The difference between the two, for me, is that one is based around the physical, and one is based around a mental connection. Most people will be interested in both, but one will be the focus and the other will be incorporated within it.

Generally speaking, this can give me a very good idea of what kind of sub they will be and whether they are suitable or trainable.

I'll resist the urge to reveal what their answers to this question tell me. ;-)

Types...there are the ugly fat thick bastard doms, ugly thin bastard doms, there are doms who are doms because they can't fuck properly so prefer to do other things...rarely you come across a dom who is attractive, good at bdsm and a great shag. Oh then of course there is the person who pretends to be a dom but would much rather be tied up, humiliated and made to shag a blow up doll...dom eh? There are also doms who have a chip on their shoulder, some who are abusers but hide under the cover of dom....there are of course many who could not get a shag any other way doms...

but like i said occasionally you can come across a rare attractive, sexy, clever, fantastic fuck, fantastic at bdsm dom...I've known two... one is in a relationship now and off ic and i can give you the number of the other ;). Good luck with your search - and memo me all your nightmares on your quest so i can have a laugh :).

In vanilla I wouldn't call someone who wanted just fun/play with no commitment a player provided they were being up front about it.

The term 'player' seems to have two main meanings. One is someone who plays, which is a good thing, the other is someone who plays, which is a bad thing.

Sorry to cause confusion, I am using the word mainly as an abbreviation of roleplayer, to distinguish between someone who wants to be your "slave" (as in full-on TPE, scrub your toilet, devote themselves to you) and someone who wants to be your "slave" (for an hour or until he shoots his load and takes off the fetish gear).

There is nothing wrong with either, but if you don't know which type you are dealing with it can cause problems!

Not really my battle since I'm a switch (and therefore refreshingly free of those worrying neuroses and attitude issues that affect some Doms) but some Doms may also be ordinary human beings with their own advantages and flaws. My attitude has always been that any BDSMer is always a fellow human being rather than the sum of their respective kinks.

S....x

For those of you who are worried that I've lost my acerbic edge this doesn't necessarily mean that some of them aren't complete tw*ts (I decided not to use the C- bomb) however - though very few people I've met in the flesh on the scene would fall into this category.

There are (to my certain knowledge)

Boredoms (yawn)

Uberdoms (kneel!)

Martyrdoms (the ones that won't let you on the St Andrew's cross because they've already nailed themselves to it)

Kingdoms (or should that be kingdongs???)

Freedoms (they're the ones that no one wants... so they get given away with a box of cornflakes)

Officialdoms (mostly those ones that work for local government - related to Boredoms when they begin to discuss the pros and cons of the benefit system)

Earldoms (mostly American with their own sit coms)

Serfdoms (the ones you find on the web)

Anyone for any more?

(Oh.. I know the last one is a bit of a cheat on the spelling side... but hey, it's late, give a girl a break!)

I guess from a submissive's perspective they fall into two categories - doms who are well matched with you and doms who are not.

Sorry to barge in and take the question seriously... but... ;) What type of dom, is probably just shorthand for trying to work out what your interests are. You're right, we don't come listed in strict categories really, no. Creating some as here is amusing (but pretty harsh, there seems to be few versions of nice dom mentioned, aw are we all really that bad!?)

So, ya big bunch of rotten meanies (subs?? are ya sure?? :-p) if we came catalogued like shopping at Argos, so you could browse the list and assess the specifications, what great options would you add to the list..? ;)

You need to find the dom who fits you. I think some wise soul advised me on one my many rambling weblogs 'some of us have to kiss alot of frogs to find a prince'. You just need to find someone who holds the same values as you, who wants to nurture and care for you as well as hurt you and push your buttons. Listern to your own instincts and for god sake enjoy yourself ...

I think every human being is different and trying to label them or putting them in boxes never works.

Life is a biatch ... fuck her dont take her too seriously but love her with all your heart!
comments are always edited cause i is a typo princess innit though ... am i bothered :-D :-D :-D :-D
