and how about those who think the sex and kink is the meaningful thing, that it is exactly there they find whatever they want? i would rather distinguish some people as irresponsible and some as responsible.

The main thing I ask a potential sub, is whether they are more interested in sado-masochism or Dominance and submission. The difference between the two, for me, is that one is based around the physical, and one is based around a mental connection. Most people will be interested in both, but one will be the focus and the other will be incorporated within it. Generally speaking, this can give me a very good idea of what kind of sub they will be and whether they are suitable or trainable.
I'll resist the urge to reveal what their answers to this question tell me.

Sorry to cause confusion, I am using the word mainly as an abbreviation of roleplayer, to distinguish between someone who wants to be your "slave" (as in full-on TPE, scrub your toilet, devote themselves to you) and someone who wants to be your "slave" (for an hour or until he shoots his load and takes off the fetish gear). There is nothing wrong with either, but if you don't know which type you are dealing with it can cause problems!

Not really my battle since I'm a switch (and therefore refreshingly free of those worrying neuroses and attitude issues that affect some Doms) but some Doms may also be ordinary human beings with their own advantages and flaws. My attitude has always been that any BDSMer is always a fellow human being rather than the sum of their respective kinks. S....x For those of you who are worried that I've lost my acerbic edge this doesn't necessarily mean that some of them aren't complete tw*ts (I decided not to use the C- bomb) however - though very few people I've met in the flesh on the scene would fall into this category.

I guess from a submissive's perspective they fall into two categories - doms who are well matched with you and doms who are not.
Sorry to barge in and take the question seriously... but...

You need to find the dom who fits you. I think some wise soul advised me on one my many rambling weblogs 'some of us have to kiss alot of frogs to find a prince'. You just need to find someone who holds the same values as you, who wants to nurture and care for you as well as hurt you and push your buttons. Listern to your own instincts and for god sake enjoy yourself ... I think every human being is different and trying to label them or putting them in boxes never works. Life is a biatch ... fuck her dont take her too seriously but love her with all your heart! Edited 5 Nov 08, 9:28 AM by twisted_kitty |
