That having to go to work, can be detrimental to one's health and mental being.
Am I the only person on this site that's feeling this way.
(Please don't let me be alone on this subject).

Absolutely. We are conditioned to think that work is a good and noble thing but unless you're lucky enough to do what you love and get paid for it, work is simply taking your valuable (and ultimately limited) time away from potentially better things.

Totally and utterly. I hate how we're encouraged not to think too hard about our occupations. It's what I do for eight fucking hours a day, for five days a week. I want something I can obsess about, but that won't kill me, or make me feel like much, much less than the sum of my parts. I need a job that engages my compulsion and need to geek out like fuck, anything less would grind me into the worst depression possible.
And even then, I still have to force myself into it, some mornings. Having to keep to such a strict rhythm, for such a long time, is alone enough to make a person sickly.
Tell us more about it, fella. |

I am 100% behind you on this one!
Work is a means to an ends, a punishment for not being born rich.
The best that I can do is get a job that pays OK and that I don't hate. I would much rather have my time to do what I want to do with it.
Please see my previous ramblings on the subject:- http://www.informedconsent.co.uk/posts/89188/
I work to live and I can never see me living to work.
