Well the new job certainly gets me around, I'm now on imtimate terms with the northern sector of the M25 and the entire lenght of the M3.

Off to north of the border soon, and they been having snow there I hear, best pack my woolies I guess. Shame it doesn't work out for visiting a local munch up there, but Im sure I can keep busy enough and find things to do in the 3 hours a day I wont be asleep or working :)

Got a promotion of sorts, so next year the miles will mount up even further visiting just about everywhere from Aberdeen in the north to the wilds of Cornwall in the south on a fairly regular basis. Maybe it will be worth collecting all those bloody loyalty points from now on with weekly fuel bills well into 3 figures and chasing 4.

If you are clocking up those sorts of fuel bills then you need to make it pay. At my last full time job all of the sales guys used exclusively Tesco petrol with a clubcard. One guy was putting a full tank in everyday to commute to work (company paid for) and the clubcard vouchers basically paid for the wife's food shopping. They also had the Nectar cards, Total points and Shell Drivers club so that it never went to waste. Texaco and Esso were avoided because no points.

If you have a TomTom sat nav then get the additional POV with the petrol stations on them and then you can find the garages when in areas you don't know.

Too late for Christmas this year, but keep it up and you will not have to pay for any presents next year.

Hehe - precisely what I'm doing to make the new job's naff mileage rate a bit less grim :) I've gone from an annual claim in two digits to a monthly claim in four digits - I'm looking forward to seeing what nice Christmas foods I can get with the loyalty points :)

Luckily most of the time its company motor and almost instant refund of expenses on fuel, on the rare occasion I do need to use my own, its even more profitable as they pay based on engine size and miles drive, running on LPG is something they take no notice of :)

It's easy to tell the difference between right and wrong. What's hard is choosing the wrong that's more right.
I tend to be suspicious of all true believers. Present company included.
