Maybe there is no actual news in Yorkshire?

There is plenty of news in the regions. For example, just related to the credit crunch:
B&B (Bradford & Bingley)
HBOS (Halifax Bank of Scotland)
However, the tabloid papers tend to follow the same forumla wherever they are sold. Hence the following local sexual crime stories:
Chinese brothels in well to do country estate farms;
Former blonde escort murdering her gimped boyfriend with a firemans axe;
Old gentleman covered in vaseline caught by farmer while worrying stabled horses;
Goths kicking and burning disabled man to death;
Dominatrix tying up clients while an accomplice robbed them;
Various professional footballer alledged rapes;
Various illegal immigrant sex workers;

How does it compare to other Yorkshire papers?

The Yorkshire Evening Post is a tabloid from the Johnston Group. It is not the best newspaper in the county but it certainly is not the worst.
They are many Yorkshire Papers, for example just around Leeds:
There is also the award winning Yorkshire Post, the broadsheet morning paper from the same group:

The award winning Bradford Telegraph and Argus which is a broadsheet from Newsquest Media Group part of Gannett:
http://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/
The Leeds Metro which is a Metro tabloid and hence part of Daily Mail group:

The weekly local broadsheet papers which are mostly Johnston Group or Newsquest Media:
Wetherby News

Wharfedale & Airedale Observer

Plus many free tabloid papers of various standards from a raft of publishers.
