Weekend of the Steroids (4)
beatabeatrix's profile
Posted by beatabeatrix on Fri 17 Oct 08, 9:13 AM
It's 08.59 and I am contemplating going to have my shower in order to get myself ready for the day - not an ordinary day-but a day which could change my life for a few weeks, months or even years.
I have been packing my bag since yesterday, I only need PJ's to wear, oh and my slipper socks!( not very fetish but Matron will shout at me! MMmmmm that might be quite nice!)
CHECK LIST:
I POD - check
Book to read - check
Wordsearch and pen - check ( ok stop fucking laughing it gets boring in there!)
Cross stitch-check ( The laughter is getting louder now!)
Fluffy toy given to me by my son to have because I am scared.
Pick up time is 10am then it's off to the QE in Brum for the weekend.
I do not know what to expect over the next few days although very kind people on IC have given me advice about the treatment....take lots of food!!!
Will it be a "rush" when the steroids go in?
Will my legs actually do what I want them to do?
Will I stop falling over?
Will my hands stop feeling like I am wearing boxing gloves?
WILL IT FEEL ANY DIFFERENT?
I am so very, very scared this morning..........

Be brave and the very best of luck to you.
Hope to see you back soon.

They warn you that you might get a headache, but I didn't. They monitor your blood sugar levels hourly - mine rocketed - and may put you on an insulin drip to counteract that.
Other than that, just lie back and enjoy the boredom! As the steroids didn't work for me, I'm not sure if they do so immediately or take time.
Good luck.
