For weeks and days and hours the date accelerates towards me. Intervening events are impatiently lived through, but then they are gone, I want to slow down time. It races towards me like something seen from a train, and will disappear behind in a blink.

I don't blink. I notice everything. How do I feel now? And now? And now? I'll remember years later what the weather was like today, and what I wore, and what I had for breakfast.

A bubble of a day, swollen by expectation, and the more I try to limit my hopes, the more they seethe and ferment.
