I'm not entirely sure how this thing works, So somebody correct me if I'm worng, but I've been told that all we need is one SNP MSP on our side to start making trouble for this bill. So, I'm going through the list of SNP MSPs (that really is too many acryonyms!) trying to see who would be most sympathetic to our cause of not punishing the consumers of so-called extreme porn. Below are some folks I think might help and why. Please feel free to make comments on individuals if you feel they might not be helpful, and add some if you think they could be helpful.

Bashir Ahmad: Glasgow. Member of the Cross-Party Group in the Scottish Parliament on Human Rights and Civil Liberties, includes right to private and family life.

Alasdair Allan: Western Isles

Keith Brown: Ochil

Aileen Campbell: South of Scotland. Member of the Cross-Party Group in the Scottish Parliament on Human Rights and Civil Liberties, includes right to private and family life.

Willie Coffey: Kilmarnock and Loudoun.

Angela Constance: Livingston. Member of the Justice Committee.

Nigel Don: North East Scotland. Member of the Justice Committee.

Bob Doris: Glasgow.

Joe FitzPatrick: Dundee West. Concerned about health -- perhaps focus on health and safety aspects of BDSM tutorial videos?

Kenneth Gibson: Cunninghame North. Member of the Cross-Party Group in the Scottish Parliament on Sexual Health.

Christopher Harvie: Mid Scotland and Fife. Member of the Cross-Party Group in the Scottish Parliament on Human Rights and Civil Liberties, includes right to private and family life.

Jamie Hepburn: Central Scotland. Convener of the Cross-Party Group in the Scottish Parliament on Human Rights and Civil Liberties, includes right to private and family life. Co-convener of the Cross-Party Group in the Scottish Parliament on Sexual Health. This one could be important!!

Bill Kidd: Glasgow.

Ian McKee: Lothians. Member of the Cross-Party Group in the Scottish Parliament on Human Rights and Civil Liberties, includes right to private and family life.

Christina McKelvie: Central Scotland.

Stuart McCillan: West of Scotland. Member of the Cross-Party Group in the Scottish Parliament on Human Rights and Civil Liberties, includes right to private and family life.

Gil Paterson: West of Scotland. Member of the Cross-Party Group in the Scottish Parliament on Mens Violence Against Women and Children. (Probably not very receptive.)

Michael Russell: South of Scotland.

Rt Hon Alex Salmond: Gordon. First Minister and Party Leader. The biggest fish of all. If you don't know to whom to write, try this one.

Dave Thompson: Highlands and Islands.

Bill Wilson: West of Scotland. Member of the Cross-Party Group in the Scottish Parliament on Human Rights and Civil Liberties, includes right to private and family life.

John Wilson: Central Scotland. Co-Convener of the Cross-Party Group in the Scottish Parliament on Mental Health.

Just pop a little email to them commenting that you are aware of the new extreme porn measure in the CJLB and you wish to make your opinion on it heard. If you don't want to sign your name, please explain why (that current prejudice against BDSM might mean loss of job, etc.).

You may wish to note that parliamentary protocol dictates that MSPs are unlikely to respond unless the author of the communication is in their constituency. My suggestion therefore would be to write to your own MSP and ask them to pass the communication over to the relevant MSP.

Excellent point, duidic. People can find out who their MSP is here.

Oh, and as a piece of advice, DON'T PUT PORN IN THE SUBJECT TITLE!!! They have a firewall, and they probably filter out all sorts of words like porn, pornography, viagra, etc.
