He died in a car accident last night:

He was the leader of one of the two far - right parties in Austria. I quite vividly remember 14 years ago, when me and some punk friends went to one of his pre-election speeches in Graz, we heckled him, and then he suddenly calmly pointed at us (about 150 of us) and told the crowd: 'And when I will in Power, you scum will not exist anymore' That was scary...
Well, what comes around, goes around...
ETA: Of course I'm sad for his family, it must be very hard for them.

So go on, tell us, you're amongst friends. How much would five minutes of him secured to a St.Andrews cross have been worth? Not my sort of politician. Oh yes, very sad etc. etc. etc. This communication was brought to you from the desk of the Pontiff Elect, the benchmark by which purity, holiness & normality are measured.
Bless you. | |

I'd probably would have something more subtle in mind for him - putting him in a situation where he had to flee his country and seek asylum in another one, so he understands how it feels to be in these situations... ------ Come to the dark side - we have cookies! | |

It hasn't been in the news much here, as we're not exactly short of startlingly terrible events but the 30 per cent vote for the far right in Austria recently was quite extraordinary. The short amount of time I spent in Austria was with various avant garde (as they used to say) artists, maniacs who make our own attention seekers look staid. I wondered if they got that way being alone among so many erzkonservatif compatriots. Wherever they gather the far right, like the far left, does seem to like a good feud. Splitters!
