My landlord came round to my flat on the 24th Sept to give me two months notice to quit my flat on the 24th November.
Where am i going to live after that?,i dont have a clue.I went to the neighbourhood office to ask for advice. But they told me that untill the 24th Nov,they could not help me,as legally untill the 24th Nov i still have a roof over my head. They said i would have to go down again on the 24th Nov with my belongings, and they would put in a hostel.
I have contacted Housing Associations and filled in application forms to try and find a small flat to live in.
But time is running out,as if i dont find anywhere to live by the end of October.I will have to hand in a months notice to a job that i really enjoy doing.
Apart from that, all is well with me.I did think earlier on today my profile here had been deleted. As i spent all morning trying to log in.But thankfully my profile is back.

I don't understand that if you're working you can't get a private let like you have now? |

Well i am working part time, and i dont have any savings for another deposit.
If my landlord had given me a warning at the beggining of the year what he was planning to do,i would have saved up madly and i would be in a better position than i am in now.

I agree. Have you looked for letting agencies in the area? There are many stand alone letting agencies, and many estate agents have a lettings department.
Given the state of the housing market at the moment, I'd have thought they'd be falling over themselves to get you into one of their properties. The state has no business in the bedrooms of the nation - Pierre Trudeau

Don't you get the deposit back when you move out? The state has no business in the bedrooms of the nation - Pierre Trudeau

It's standard pratice to give 2 months notice to quit. You should get your deposit back as long as you haven't trashed the place. You may have to share with people in a house if you can't afford to live alone - millions of people do it! |

i work for an estate agents and sometimes the tenants are very clever..when given noticed they stay on! it goes to court, an eviction order is issued...on that date they are officially homeless and the local council has to home them!..this may be different with other councils..please don't quote me. if you are happy and you know it, stamp your paws xxx

the damage deposit doesn't have to be returned instantly, so he can't rely on it

How did you get your current flat? Were you working part time then? What did you do for a deposit? Science, the only religion that works even if you don't believe in it.

This would seriously piss me off. There is little social housing as it is and it is supposed to be for folk with genuine need and not those who can't be arsed looking for their own place. |
