I went to the Chesterfield Conclave munch and mini-fet-fair to do a pony-play demo and had a fantastic time. If it's close enough for you to go I thoroughly recommend it, very friendly and lovely atmosphere. Anyway I trained a few new ponies and re-introduced others to the pony role and showed off my poodle Cutie. Hopefully, with play now well established in West Wales and Kent, with other venues planned, we'll have a great season next year. But in the meantime there's a spat of debate on http://groups.yahoo.com/group/realponygirlsuk/ about building sulkies over the winter for use next year. With recruiting and showing off my poodle-bitch, Cutie, and a few other human-puppies, including a Forum journalist who'll be writing a long article about it, I've very much taken that up again and will continue that over the winter. Our West Wales host has got the bug too, and we're hoping to have a pack of hounds for a hunt next year, so if you're someone who would enjoy that, as hound, quarry, or hunter, please get in touch, particularly if you're a couple. If you know of one, we'd be be very interested! I've tried many times in the past 15 years to rent a barn, empty warehouse or factory to play in. The usual reasons that we can't are: The owner's concern about fire risk, insurance, etc. If a place is vacant it is usually exempt from business rates - but if it's used, even for one day, rates have to be paid. There's a security contract and/or CCTV cameras and it's too much hassle to tell the security people to skip a day or turn off the cameras Barns are usually built to store straw or other agricultural produce, etc. from Autumn through to Spring and are therefore full all Winter; or maybe worse half-full of very combustible material. The owners suspect we may want the place to hold an illegal rave or drug-fuelled orgy or something ... But mostly because the kind of people who own an empty barn, warehouse or factory can't be arsed to let out the place for the pathetic bundle of notes that scene players will offer ... Any and every idea will be followed up, but I've not really had much success in this direction, for the reasons I gave. But I may go out to play on 25/26 oct, and there may be a wet-weather undercover option there. So get in touch, anybody who'd like to play then!
