Well the main bulletin this week is that Triffid's index tomato has started to ripen!!!
It began to go yellow earlier in the week and yesterday was a delicate shade of orange. As you can imagine I am very excited 
To celebrate this momentous event I am launching a competition to name this tomato. The person who comes up with the name I like best will also receive a photo of the tomato if they would like one, and can help me think up recipe ideas to include it in if they wish.
If you would like to enter the competition please post your name suggestion at the bottom of this blog.
In other SSW news the sunflowers which have flowered are starting to look a little tired and I don't think they will be with us for much longer 
The sunflower which has three shoots is gearing itself up to start flowering in a big way... it's three main flower heads are getting bigger and bigger every day.
Several peppers are now ripe on the Scotch Bonnets, the Dorset Naga is looking a little under the weather. I am thinking that I might have to bring all the chilis inside fairly soon as the coolish wet weather is really not suiting them. Not sure where I will put the Scotch Bonnets however as they are now much too big to go back on the living room windowsill. I suppose they could go the bathroom windowsill but I've got a nagging feeling that growing food in a bathroom is somehow unhygienic. I will have to give it more thought.

Tomato's can be picked green and left to ripen. Which is what I am having to do with mine as they have a lack of ripeness about them due to the damp weather. When the least they could do to you was everything, then the most they could do to you suddenly held no terror. |

Hiawatha, Put them in a paper bag with a ripe banana if they don't ripen. The older I get the more I recall.........how little I knew when I knew it all. |
