Hi people Is it wrong to want a partner to be a non smoker, some people I know are smokers but I could never date a smoker. This would be a hard limit for me but what do you all think ? Will you follow me into the Darkness, will you follow me into the Fire

It's personal. You are allowed to want whatever you like in a partner. If red hair gives you the creeps, then you don't have to go out with people with red hair. Same with smokers. If it really turns you off, then it turns you off. Nobody has a right to be your partner - who you choose to spend your time with is your choice, and yours alone (equally, other people choose to spend time with you...or not). If you don't want to spend time with smokers (and end up feeling ill and with your hair and clothes stinking of stale tobacco smoke) then that's fine. Although I have to say that I thought I could never go out with a smoker (tobacco smoke makes me feel ill) but I discovered this was not the case - that his character, the person he was, was more important even than keeping my hair and clothes smoke-free and not feeling nauseous. --A lady is never offensive... by accident.--

I agree with the above posters. its all personal preference. there are times when i love the smell of smoke on a Dom. It adds to the atmosphere of the scene and makes me more turned on. But sometimes i can bitch and moan so much because it stinks and gets all over my clothes, and if im not in the mood ,the smell can make me feel sick! so yeah, personal preference, and mine changes over the day! Of course it's your choice. I smoke. I would not be offended by someone not wanting to date me because of it. I think they are probably right - it's a disgusting smelly habit. That's a shame. You won't be bending over and taking me then!

I couldn't date someone who didn't smoke - it's a fundamental part of my personality. Vociferous anti-smokers reek of puritanical self-righteousness to me.

I think it's definitely personal choice, some folks find smoking quite a turn on in a partner and if you don't you don't. I gave up the cigs, was sick of wearing expensive perfume only to drown it out with fag smoke. I don't hold anything against the people that do smoke though cause I loved it once myself Edited 10 Sep 08, 11:25 PM by Vivien |
